Griesbach Barracks was the original Canadian Armed Forces Base for Edmonton, Alberta operational from 1950 until 2000. Beginning in 2002, the Canada Lands Company began major redevelopment of the area transforming it into the urban village and thriving community that it is today. The legacy of the Canadian Military, Air Force and Navy remains strong in the community with multiple landmarks dedicated to the different branches of service.

The Village at Griesbach is located between 97 Street NW to 113A Street NW and 137 Avenue NW to 153 Avenue NW in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

The Starting Line of The Amazing Race Edmonton 2018 was located at Central Plaza on Patricia Lake. The plaza is a replica of the “Frezenberg Memorial” and the lake is dedicated to the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. Team’s first task was to locate Unsponsored Roaming Gnomes hidden at different landmarks dedicated to different branches of service of the armed forces within the community of Griesbach. All but one Unsponsored Roaming Gnome was found, that being the one hidden at Hill Top Lookout who also had an Express Pass.

See the teams' first clue below.
